of Tintoretto's disciples. On the cassette-styled ceiling below the
choir are illusionist paintings of the Baroque painter Tripo Kokolja
from 1713 (Apotheosis of St. Dominic). The bell tower dates back to
1751; the remains of an old cloister may be seen in the monastery
garden. The monastery keeps a collection of artefacts and works of

ISLAND BRAC
MUSEUM SKRIP
When
visiting the Brač museum in Škrip we find ourselves in the hart of
the Illyrian cairns built after the Greek manner, and most likely,
built by the Greek masters. After their fortification function had
been forgotten, over them was built the magnificent Roman mausoleum
from the 3rd c. Which is fully preserved. Many centuries after that,
a Croatian fort with loop-holes near the top was built, which today
houses the island's collection of its resistance history. This wall,
each stone, from the Neolithic to the present day, is a testimony of
the interwined cultures and ethnic groups of Brač. This rare and yet
obvious and palpable following indication of different cultures and
the peoples is found everywhere throughout the island.

exterior is mostly preserved in its original form. The interior
architectonics is from the 19th century.
